Getting Around

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is designed to showcase the Skagit Valley tulips, events, attractions, and growers. These are spread from Puget Sound east to the Cascade Mountains. The best way to visit the Tulip Festival is by a motorized vehicle. This will allow you to discover your favorite Skagit Valley spot.

On Foot

Skagit Valley by foot can be a great way to travel if you like to walk long distances. Many of the tulip fields, events, attractions and display gardens are miles apart. If you decide to tour the tulips by foot, be prepared for rainy, windy weather -- we suggest you dress in layers. Many of the roads in the valley floor are flat and easy to walk. Walk defensively -- motorists get very excited about the tulips -- and watch for changing road conditions -- shoulders and speed in the tulip area vary widely.

By Bicycle

Many cyclists enjoy traveling the tulip route. Most tulip fields, events, attractions and display gardens can be accessed easily by cycle. If you decide to tour the tulips by bike, be prepared for rainy, windy weather -- we suggest you dress in layers. Many of the roads in the valley floor are flat and easy to navigate. Tulip Country Bike Tours (see their complete listing under travel and tours) offers bike rentals on a limited basis. Their rentals come complete with a map, self guided tour route and staff recommendations for lunch and other stops. In addition visitors with their own cycles can join the guided tours at a discounted rate.

By Bus

Motorcoach tours are a great way to see the tulips. Both display gardens are motorcoach friendly and have reservation systems and parking all ready for group tours. If you are interested in putting together a group tour, contact the tulip office at (360) 428-5959 and we can help you with sample itineraries and suggested lodging. Sample itineraries are also on our website under the media section. The festival is not currently offering tulip tours.

By Taxi, Rental Car, Private Vehicle

The Tulip Festival is designed as a driving tour. We invite you to come and poke around the valley, discovering your favorite eatery, activity and tulip variety. The festival map on this site shows the various ways to enter the tulip growing area. In addition, visitors arriving by plane, train or bus to our valley may wish to rent a taxi or car to visit the fields as public transportation to and from the fields can be difficult.
