The time has come for all Skagit County 4th and 5th graders to apply to be the next Tulip Ambassadors. As tradition follows, a boy and girl will be chosen to become the next Tulip Ambassadors after a short question-answer competition.
The event will take place at the Cascade Mall in Burlington on February 7 at 5pm. The contestants will be asked “Why do you want to be an Ambassador?” as well as a mystery question that the contestants themselves will pick out of a bowl. The contestants will be graded on poise, ability to articulate thoughts, as well as enthusiasm. The winners will be named after the last student, and will be named the 2013 Tulip Ambassadors. All contestants will be rewarded with a mystery goody bag supplied by Key Bank, the event’s corporate sponsors.
The Ambassador duties are those of great interest to anyone who enjoys parades, ribbon cutting, and of course, tulips! There will even be a trip planned to go visit Governor Jay Inslee in Olympia. Applications will be distributed throughout the Skagit Valley school districts and can also be found on the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival website under our media tab section.
