I-5 Bridge over Skagit River is Now Open and Ready for You!
June 19 2013
The Washington Department of Transportation announced that the I-5 Skagit River Bridge is now open to traffic. Freight haulers carrying oversize or overweight loads must still exit and use a detour route. There is a reduced speed limit of 40 miles an hour on I-5 between SR 20 and College Way, but this still means that most of the 71,000 vehicles using the bridge each day can get back to utilizing this country’s primary highway from Mexico to Canada.
Thanks to everyone involved in this major achievement. Remember, Skagit Valley has always been the worth the trip and will continue to be…but now it’s a bit easier!
