The 30th annual Tulip Festival Street Fair takes place this weekend, April 25-27, bringing fun, food, and fine entertainment to downtown Mount Vernon. The event takes place on First Street, right in the heart of the community.
Due to both regular tulip traffic and construction in downtown Mount Vernon, parking is limited. The Mount Vernon Downtown Association, organizers of the event, have arranged for shuttles to take people from the South Mount Vernon Park and Ride (just west of Exit 224) to the Fair downtown AND from Edgewater Park, just across the river from downtown Mount Vernon. NOTE THAT THESE SHUTTLES ARE ONLY FOR DOWNTOWN MOUNT VERNON AND WILL NOT TAKE PEOPLE TO THE TULIPS.
Visit http://www.mountvernondowntown.org/ for more information about Street Fair shuttles or the Fair itself.
Two great alternate routes to get to the tulips are to take Exit 221 (Conway) and stop at either of the 76 stations OR the Produce Market and pick up a map and brochure. It’s a few miles west toward the fields, but it’s a fun and lovely drive and you’ll miss a lot of traffic.
Another route is to take Exit 230, SR 20, and go WEST, toward Anacortes, to Best Road, the fourth traffic signal. Left at Best to the roundabout at McLean Road and you’re in the heart of tulip country. Stay east on McLean to Bradshaw and turn left for Tulip Town or stay on McLean Road to Beaver Marsh Rd., turn right, and you’re at RoozenGaarde.
