Skagit Valley Tulip Festival hosts visit by Congresswoman Suzan DelBene

April 10 2016

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene spent Saturday morning on April 9 seeing the blooming tulips of the valley, attending the PACCAR open house, experiencing the Kiwanis Salmon Barbecue, and learning about the Official Wine of the Tulip Festival. Along the way she met with various officials and people, including Festival Board President Tina Pullar, the Festival ambassadors Paige Whited and Jack Rinker, Washington Bulb Co. President Leo Roozen and David James, owner of Pasek Cellars, who bottles the Official Wine of the festival.

Tulip Festival Executive Director Cindy Verge made sure she had the chance to visit PACCAR during its annual open house and learn a bit about their operations. During the visit, the Congresswoman commented about the dual importance of agri-tourism activities to the Skagit Valley economy and the opportunity to educate visitors about preserving rich farmland like that found in Skagit Valley. We always appreciate the opportunity to meet with our Washington DC elected representatives and are always happy when they can come and take part in the festival.
