Kate Larsson's rendition of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival poster was greeted with a hearty round of applause from the crowd gathered at Skagit Valley Gardens last night. The Gig Harbor artist told the record gathering that she felt being chosen as one of the Tulip Festival artists was an important milestone for any Pacific Northwest Artist.

Luminaries from the area helped to showcase the 2012 artwork, including Tony Pickering, Chairman of the Board for Whidbey Island Bank, and Midge Howard, representing MacGregor/Yellowbook, the official directory of the festival. MC for the evening was Tim Rawlins, also from Whidbey Island Bank. Mount Vernon's noon Kiwanis contributed manpower for the night and many community members helped with parking and programs.

Skagit Valley Gardens provided a wonderful backdrop for the program as it was all decked out in Christmas, ready for the kick off of the Christmas social and shopping season.
