Tulip Festival featured in guide book, playing cards By: Cindy Verge
The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is honored to be recognized as one of the top destination events for tourist. Recent the festival was notified of two honors: inclusion in a top guide book and inclusion as one of the top festivals in Washington State. Author Patricia Schultz featured the Skagit Valley Tulip festival in her travel guide book "1,000 Places to See Before you Die." This puts the festival in some pretty lofty company, including Disneyland, the Redwood Forests, and Yellowstone National Park. The book is arranged by geographic area and includes both the USA and Canada. Fans can find the book at Wyman Park in LaConner and in your favorite local bookstore. The festival is also featured in a deck of playing cards put out by the Washington Association of Cities and the Washington Festival and Events Association. The two groups picked the top events around the state. Those events are shown on the back of the cards. Amy Melious' 2007 poster shows up as the Queen of Spades. If you are interested in a deck of these cards, they are for sale in the festival office.
